Ultimate Star Wars / THX theater

The picture certainly does no justice for what you'll see if brave enough to click the link.  Why?

 From Modern Home Theater(.com)...
"This Star Wars inspired theater rivals the LucasArts Ranch in regards to authentic Star Wars memorabilia. This Grand Imperial theater is owned by a couple passionate Star Wars fans just outside of Seattle. Designed to appear like the command deck of the Death Star from The Empire Strikes Back, you will find a variety of life sized Star Wars characters in the theater including C-3PO, Boba Fett and Han Solo frozen in carbonite. The entrance to the theater is covered in poster cases from the three original Star Wars movies as well as a poster for The Phantom Menace and the Clone Wars animated series."
The link has a slideshow which reveals too many things to be envious about.  On top of that, the theater IS THX CERTIFIED, and has a plaque to prove it.  More technical detail at the article's source.

Rebel recruitment posters

 Unite Behind The Force

Some amazing artwork that had to be shown off.  These amazing propaganda posters were created by Joe Corroney.  To see them all (and bigger versions), here is the link:

For an added bonus: here is a link to some of the artist's wallpaper downloads - mostly Star Wars.

At last look, two were for sale at $200 each.  That seems like a steal for the originals.

Building a better saber (IRL-ish)

How to meticulously make a lightsaber out of spare parts
The pic is actually from a person who has been working on making his own sabers and sharing the steps to the public.
"The lightsabers in the step-by-step builds will be similar to the hasbro Force FX sabers, but brighter, louder, and more accurate to the films. Meaning, where I can, I will use the same vintage parts used in the movies,or replicas machined as close as possible. This site will feature documentation of the build process, tips and tricks."
Still curious?  Of course you are!

Samurai Wars

Hopefully the picture got enough attention or the "What the-?" face like I had.  I stumbled upon this while reading an article about how to make a more authentic lighstaber (I'll post that next time).

The story is as follows...
"Samurai Wars is a line of custom figures that imagines what a Star Wars movie directed by Akira Kurosawa would look like.  George Lucas has said what a fan he is a Kurosawa and also the influence that Kurosawa's "The Hidden Fortress"  had on Star Wars."
The site is really something amazing.  The above pic is Ben, Luke, Leia, Han, Chewie, R2, and 3P0.  If you visit the site itself there is not only Vader and a stormtrooper, but even Boba Fett.

What are you waiting for?

See Luke become a Jedi (deleted scene)

In case you didn't hear...Star Wars will be on BluRay sometime next year.

This deleted scene gave me chills when I saw it, but maybe that's just me.  It's Luke making a certain something in a certain person's cave domicile.

EDIT: The link embeds now.  Enjoy.

Star Wars subway improv

In case you haven't seen it, this is a humorous improv on a subway.  It gets better the longer you watch.
If you like that, see what they do in a library...

iHoth? Battle of Hoth for iPhone

IGN gives the game a 7.4 and says it plays like most Tower Defender type games but their is a cool ability to use a shovel to dig in and stay on the defensive.

Kicking off Remembrance Day

I came across this image and think it's a perfect fit.  It kind of chills me actually, but that's probably from looking at it in context of the holiday.

Memorial Day 2010

Remembrance Day is about reflecting on who was lost and what we are fighting for.  Hopefully you all remember it's time to band together as a guild and a faction - to conquer the Empire and restore freedom to the galaxy and form the Republic anew.

This is a crazy Adidas ad that made me laugh.  Needless to say, I'm rooting for Mos Eisley this year's world cup.

Jedi of the Caribbean: Curse of a New Hope

This is a compilation (well-done and graphically sound, I might add) comparing the Pirates of the Caribbean characters to Star Wars counterparts.

Just for a taste...

Elizabeth Swann could be Leia Organa
Connections:
- - Both of them lead privileged lives before they went on the run.
- - Both of them are unsure of their feelings for the 'Captain' in their respective stories.
- - Both challenge classic feminine representations.
- - They kiss both male leads.

Original Empire Strikes Back 'voiceover' trailer

Why should you watch it?

It's the original teaser trailer narrated by Harrison Ford himself- in the '30s style newsreel voice you hear on the Clone Wars recaps, and the logo is in stencil font.

Give a look...

Black Knight: before Empire Strikes Back

Tony Vogel (kneeling) as 'Sir Maddox' in Roger Christian's Black Angel (1979). Picture © Roger Christian

Black Angel was a short film which ran BEFORE Empire Strikes Back in its original theatrical release; and many considered this a holy grail of movies to find.  Lost by almost everyone (even the Lucasfilm archives), but it has resurfaced.

If you are curious of this tale of a film about a dying knight, the whole interview is very interesting.  The same goes for anyone who enjoys Star Wars-related trivia for the sake of learning something new; or stumping an aficionado.

What countries spent on MMOs - by Andrew Laughlin

This is a brief article I found a little interesting.
How did your country stack up?

Brits spent £195m on MMOs last year

Brits spent £195m on MMOs last year
Tuesday, March 9 2010, 11:07am EST
By Andrew Laughlin, Technology Reporter

British players spent nearly £200m on massive multiplayer online games in 2009, while the worldwide market topped £3 billion.

According to a report published today, gamers in the UK spent £195m on MMOs last year, followed by French players with £165m and German players with £145m.

However, US gamers dominated the global MMO market after spending a massive £2.55bn over the 12-month period, reports CasualGaming.biz.

The study indicated that Brits spend an average of £10.50 per month on MMOs, but only 38% of total players actually pay for sessions, with the majority opting for free games.

World Of Warcraft and Runescape were the most popular titles in the UK, followed by Club Penguin, Final Fantasy and Lord Of The Rings Online.

Spenser Chi, head of European Union operations at MMO operator Aeria Games & Entertainment, said: "With every game launch, we find a new population of users without noticeable cannibalisation of our other titles.

"This is a sign to us that the MMO market will continue to grow in number of players as well as revenue."

Swear the Star Wars way!

 http://starwars.forever.free.fr/database/decipher/CCG_cloudcity/dark/echuta.gif

A lot of people in guild chats or groups wonder why I am a bit down on "bad" language.  It's not the fact of foul language for the most part, but it seems so lazy in-game.

Why?

Check this link out.  It lays out practically any form of Star Wars expletive - with a reference point of where each was used.

Sure my fav isn't in there, but it has plenty.

Mandalorian lore/fate in question? (novel)

In case you were a huge expanded universe fan, or like to know what's up in books...

Karen Traviss is leaving her latest SW book because of issues with a change in lore regarding the Mandalorians.

An excellent post from the author is below.  Sounds bad.  And I assume I already know the Clone Wars schism due to an episode a week or so ago.  I still love the series though.

If you like anything expanded or a trivia nut, then the link it totally worth at least a skim.
